Another year and the Christmas season has almost passed. This year I chose to decorate Dove Cottage with natural silvery greens, whites and mercuried silver…and a subtle dash of red here and there for festive warmth. I have draped these lovely little candles over my trees for more than twenty years now, and hung the exquisite hand blown glass baubles too. This encapsulates Christmas for Emma and Marc, and us generally as a family.
Hope you have all had a magical Christmas!

@FlowerscapeGill @LoveDoveCottage. Amazing day at Corrie House launching #GillStewartFlowerschool. Already organising a follow-up for early 2016. Great work by a lovely group of students…
We had a wonderful day today at Corrie House, and thanks to Joan, Barry and Julie for the amazing space and their warm hospitality. All our students produced beautiful work to take home, and we are looking forward to the next one.
If you are interested in future Flowerschool events, please contact Gill at firstname.lastname@example.org, or email@example.com.
Gill is still available for weddings and events for dates in 2016. For a free, no obligation consultation, contact her as above or on 01546 510289.
Gill trained with world renowned florist Paula Pryke in London, and has since become well-known in Scotland and Ireland as an innovative and inspiring floral designer in her own right.
Despite appalling weather, car breakdowns, illness, worry, stress, damp, cold, flooding and alien invasion*, it is life as usual at Dove Cottage Studio. So, as we prepare for Gill’s Christmas Flowerschool at Corrie House this coming weekend, here is a glimpse at some other stuff Gill has been doing…
*Not all of these calamities are necessarily true. e.g. We have not experienced personal flooding, although it is true that Kilmartin was cut off by flooding last weekend. The only part that is definitively true is ‘alien invasion’. We have a new Jack Russell Terrier, or ‘loon-bug’.

Gill is fulfilling an ambition on 13th December with the first step towards creating Gill Stewart FLOWERSCHOOL as an offshoot of FLOWERSCAPE. Gill has demonstrated her flower styling on a number of occasions over the years, but with the invitation from Corrie House at Craobh Haven to show how to create a Christmas wreath for your door or to hang in your home over the festive season, the opportunity was too good to miss.
Gill is well-known for her intuitive floral flair and exuberant designs. She has created complete flower stylings for over 200 weddings in Scotland and Ireland in the last few years, and was the recommended florist for 2015 at the prestigious Powerscourt House near Dublin. Her creations have graced many wedding venues, including Edinburgh City Chambers and Inveraray Castle. Gill has been a pioneer in the current vogue for Venue Styling for weddings and events and is including this service as an option for clients in 2016.
At Corrie House there will be wreath-making in the morning and decorative table centres after lunch. An enjoyable, creative and festive day is anticipated. Contact Joan at Corrie House, 01852 500779 for more infomation and book your place.
Here is Gill’s recent post on our LOVE DOVE COTTAGE site.
I was truly delighted to be recommended by One Fab Day to design and create the flowers for a photoshoot at Horetown House, Ireland. My brief was to design an Autumnal/Winter styling with flowers and foliage in a natural and slightly wild way…completely up my street, as that is what I do best. Here are some images of one of the bouquets.
Flowers and foliage: Wild blackberries, Copper Beech leaves, Allium seedheads, Shubertti, Allium, drumsticks, Poppy seedheads.
