We had a great Open Studios event this year, and thank you to all the visitors to our studios for making it such a happy and satisfying event this year. We both sold work (which is nice) and received shovelfuls of kind words and appreciation for the artwork.
So busy, I forgot to take photographs of just how busy it was, but managed to capture our 2013 red dot sign. I rather liked it myself, despite someone removing one of the red dots on Sunday afternoon. Here is my Saturday evening photograph (slightly adjusted I have to admit), recording the completed sign.
|Apologies to MacArthur Stewart Legal for reducing their banner sign to ‘Art’ for the purposes of art … if you see what I mean|
We have been very busy of late – much happening on the business front and some of it actually yielding income, which is happy thought – and only now can we promote our involvement in the Artmap Argyll Open Studios… which were about a fortnight ago.
Time, although maybe not standing still in Argyll, is a little mixed up here.
Still, the event went well with visitor numbers in our new Lochgilphead studios more than double the total at our Kilmartin home in 2011.
Sales not so good, which may be a combination of factors – holding this year’s event later in August might have missed the main surge of summer visitors, but I suspect the state of the economy is the prime factor.
But many exciting new things happening at Artmap Towers, with the launch of The Blue Dot in Ardrishaig…
|Not sure which of us Artmappers took this picture, but thanks anyway!|

Dove Cottage Studio is again part of the popular Artmap Open Studios weekend, with more original paintings, artcards, prints and a warm welcome to all who call.
Look out for the distinctive 2011 ‘Red Dot’ direction posters near Kilmartin Stores.
