A Shrew Danced On My Paintbox

George’s first publication for a while is this initial volume in a planned series of ‘Personal Journeys’ entitled Always Argyll. Book 1 is a personal journey along The Crinan Canal and features 30 illustrations completed specially for the book, along with several small sketches and drawings. There are thoughts and insights along the way, both serious and amusing, that have delighted those who have read the preview copies. This passage is from the introduction:

‘My impulse in writing this book was always and primarily pictorial, although I have allowed myself a few musings along the way, while showing some of the many delights that have thrilled my eyes from Ardrishaig to Crinan over the years. There is wildlife aplenty, both flora and fauna – I recently witnessed a shrew dancing in my paintbox while sketching near Cairnbaan (I was doing the sketching, not the shrew) – and history by the bucketload; but these are only incidentally to be found here, if at all. “I like this place and would willingly waste my time in it” – (As You Like It: Act II, Scene IV)’

It is currently only on sale online at present, available in hardcover (with dust jacket or imagewrap), softcover or eBook by following this link: A Shrew Danced On My Paintbox.
